Plat. is a platformer project of mine. It all started when I was playing Prince of Persia on the xbox. I really liked the idea of doing the levels in any order I pleased, but I hated how the game was just as difficult in the beginning as it was in the end. So, I set out to make a game that let the user play the levels in whatever order he/she desired, but the levels he/she complete later are more difficult. Thus, I started working on Plat.!
You are Gregor. Through some horrible an unexplained series of events, you've been metamorphosed into a block. In a world of colored lines, you must prevail and get to the big F in every level. Isolated from others, yourself, and nature, you must forge your essence in this strange world.
Controls
<Left Arrow/A>: Move Left
<Right Arrow/D>: Move Right
<Up Arrow/Spacebar/Z/X/Shift/Control>: Jump
<Escape>: Quit a level/return to main menu
<Enter>: Pause the game
I'm not a huge fan of the game. I like what you did with the levels; how you could play them in any order, but the difficulty still increased. Other than that, there is nothing that jumps out at me. The color idea is pretty unorginal, I had a few collision problems (that usaully ended up with me being sent to my doom), the level design was annoying at times, and the gameplay/game flow was average at best. I liked the graphics style, but more effort could have been put in to overall look and polish of the game.
It happens on my computer too, but I promise you it's more likely my code isn't very efficient than I'm sabotaging players
I'm running a 3Ghz CPU with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT and 2GB of RAM. That isn't a slow computer and it still lags randomly.
I haven't randomized the room speed, but the game has been known to lag on slower computers.
I swear that this guy has randomized the room speed... for that he gets 2 stars for gameplay.
