1st place in the 2nd GameCOG game competition! :)
This game was produced in Game Maker 7 and is Vista compatible. It uses a 480x360 window size and it doesn't change resolution or force full screen.
This game uses numerous surfaces, some computers do not properly support surfaces and you may get strange graphical problems when running the game. If you are having this issue, the turn off 'surfaces' in the options menu.

Steam is a side-view, arcade game made for the second http://gamecog.net competition.

The game is set in the wild west during the early 1800s, when steam power is really starting to take off as a useful source of power for machines. An inventor/scientist (you) has begun experimenting with steam power and, being the genius that he is, has created a giant steam powered war machine (in the shape of a spider). However, an evil group of people opposes technological advancement and they go out and destroy all modern equipment. Fortunately, the scientist goes into hiding to protect his work. After perfecting his machine, he goes out to the desert and begins to fight enemies with his war machine.

At your disposal, you have a quick-firing gun (unlimited ammunition), grenades (dynamite, limited supply) and, of course, you can stomp enemies. The enemies have similar weapons but, as you would expect, they can't crush your spider mech by stepping on it. ;)

You aim with the mouse, move with WSAD style controls, shoot with left mouse and throw dynamite with right mouse.

Bugs:
Occasionally, the legs jam up.

Thanks for being a great host, Hach-Que and Roket-Games!

You should add roket games intergration.. Also, I would have liked more maps. For a game that had a great into story it didn't really go anywhere.. Maybe add a map editor?
